Rara Lake Trek – 15 Days is a famous trekking trail in Dolpa Region, western Nepal. Rara Lake is the largest Lake in Nepal and it is in the Karnali Zone located at an altitude of 2990m, the lake covers an area of 10.8 sq KM.  The Rara Laka is 5 Km long and 3 KM wide. The maximum depth of this lake is 167m. Wilderness and isolated tour destination Karnali, Jumla, and Rara Lake are still moderately unknown and provide a glance of typical villages’ cultures and their rural way of life. The Trans Himalayan Valley with forest and alpine pastures is also a part of the national park. The Rara Lake Trek – 15 Days starts by the flight from Kathmandu to Jumla via Nepaljung and from Jumla they proceed to Rara Lake. Rara Lake Trail passes through green countryside which offers strange glances of culture and landscape really different than elsewhere in Nepal.  Sinja Valleys, the highest habitant of the world are the main attractions of this trip. Travel enthusiasts enjoy the views of snow-covered peaks. Rara Lake trek is one of the best trekking trails in Western Nepal. This is an off the beaten path trail with many different natural prospects. The trekkers appear the banks of the splendid lake after trekking through the Himalayan trails and following the several scenic villages. The lake, as well as the nearby forest, is beautiful and calm and it is the desired destination of bird lovers. The lower and upper path of the Great Himalayan trail creates crossroads at Rara Lake. From this lake, the trekker can carry on ahead either to Humla following the ancient salt route or any of the daring paths to nearby Dolpa. This Rara Lake Trek – 15 Days trip offers scenery and culture that is quite different from the other treks in Nepal.

 

The Rara Lake trek surrounded with beautiful forests of pine, juniper, spruce, and a host variety of unique flora and fauna. This park has 1074 different species of flora, 51 species of mammals, and 214 species of birds. The majority of the community is in the field of agriculture. They also rear goats and remove medicinal herb and plants to sell them. Thakuri is a well-known society there. The Thakuri Baba temple in the southeast corner of the Rara Lake Trekking.

He even booked us a fine dining restaurant in which my wife was really surprised! Thanks for that one, sir! Our only interest was Bhutan and they offer everything including visas. Then, he was kind enough to suggest Tibet and we were like, why not? Since it’s a neighboring country and we haven’t visited it either. We ended up booking the 3 Country tour. Including Nepal yes! Nepal was very entertaining and with our very educated guide Anish! He knew his stuff. Smiling fella! Minus the rain coz we missed our helicopter ride to see up close and personal the all-mighty Mt Everest. But don’t get me wrong. Even if Anup knew that our helicopter ride would be canceled he still showed up, at 6 am! He kept trying and calling constantly if there could be any possibility that we could do the tour but sadly no. That is customer service at its finest. Haven’t encountered such customer service like his. 5 stars on that! Tibet was something else. Altitude sickness yes but we managed. Karma our guide was very accommodating and will give us time to wander around on our own. Knows how to manage time especially visiting the Potala Palace. When he said he’ll meet us at 7 am. He was at the hotel right on the dot. Talk about punctuality! Bhutan was magical! The moment when you land. Everything is just a breeze. Even immigration was very friendly! I have no complaints! Sangay our guide was great! We felt like we weren’t tourists. More like friends. He explained everything perfectly. He even told us to roll down our windows coz of the fresh air. The hike to Tiger’s Nest is no joke but Sangay was there all the way. We have no negative feedback the whole time we were there in the kingdom of Bhutan. A must place to visit! Our only concern was the breakfast at Shambhala Palace in Tibet. To us, it was a cool experience to have Tibetan breakfast such as the tsampa but to the others, they might not be able to enjoy it. Fewer choices of food but that didn’t bother us. Eggs, toast coffee, and tea. No continental breakfast here but we were happy about it. The hotel is nice though! Loving the touch of every piece of furniture they have. Hi-tech shower! When we had dinner they have to fetch it from the other hotel coz the cook wasn’t there anymore. They didn’t say the kitchen is closed. They still provide. We were shocked! We felt bad for the guy delivering the food to us but we gave him a decent tip. Wish we knew all their names coz they were all very nice to us from the beginning when we arrived greeted with a smile and the day we left. The security guard even gave us bottled water on the way back to Nepal. We will surely miss those hardworking folks over there! Keep smiling! One word. Anup will do anything to make your trip a memorable one coz ours was. Even side trips such as having breakfast and having us tried all the dishes or snacks that we wanted to try! Also, even if we were at other Countries he keeps in touch thru WhatsApp just to make sure everything was still in order. He even kept on checking the helicopter ride when we were away! PAYMENT & CANCELLATION 

Payment: 30% of the total tour cost is required as an advance deposit to confirm the tour with HimalayanWindows (HW). The remaining balance will be charged 7 days before the departure date. Payment can be made through Wire Transfer or Credit Card. We process your credit card payment securely and no extra fee is charged.

Cancellation: For cancellation more than 30 days before the Tour Start Date, No Cancellation fee is charged. For cancellation from 29 calendar days up to and including 4 calendar days before the Tour Start Date, a charge of 30% of the total invoice amount is charged. For a cancellation occurring within 3 days of the date of travel or No Show shall be charged 100% of the total invoice amount. Learn more about Terms and Conditions.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS 

Accommodation: Accommodation is in twin rooms in cities unless a special request is made for a single supplement with an additional fee. Accommodation is in twin or dormitory at lodges on the trek especially in a peak season, it is difficult to find single/twin rooms in the mountains. Our main focus is to provide clean and safe rooms to our valued guests.

Meals: Basically, every package we offer includes breakfast; lunch and dinner are provided based on the cost we offer on the tour. In Bhutan, every package is on a full board plan that includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. During the trek, we provide all meals where you will need to pay extra for drinking water and snacks.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Nepal Visa: Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Nepal needs to obtain a Nepal Visa. Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival and some countries need a visa before traveling to Nepal. Make sure your passport is valid at least 6 months from the Tour Start Date. Make sure to obtain a multi-entries Nepal Visa if you are planning cross country tours.

Bhutan Visa Clearance: Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Bhutan needs to obtain a Bhutan Visa Clearance before the travel to Bhutan. We obtain your Bhutan visa; you need to send your color scanned clear passport copy. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the Tour Start Date. Before flying to Bhutan, a Visa Clearance will be sent to you from your tour operator, you have to print the clearance paper and show it at the Druk Air/Bhutan Airlines counter during the Check-in. Tibet Group Visa (TGV): Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Tibet from Nepal needs to obtain a Tibet Group Visa (TGV) in Kathmandu through the help of a tour operator. Make sure to land in Kathmandu 3-4 working days before the travel date t process for TGV. If you are traveling from China, no TGV is required, a Chinese Visa & Permit are needed, though. BEST TIME TO VISIT 

Nepal & Bhutan: Nepal and Bhutan share the climate from high mountains to the low land sub-tropical plains and jungles. Both countries have similar weather and ideal to visit at the same time of the year. March to April (spring) & October to December (autumn and early winter) are the best time to visit as the air is clean and fresh with sunny skies. January and February are colder and June, July, and August (summer) are monsoon season.

Tibet: The best time to visit Tibet is from April to October as the weather is warmer, fresh, and sunny skies. November to March are usually very cold, but still possible to visit if the route is not blocked by the snow, especially in the regions like Namtso, Everest Base Camp, Mount Kailash, etc.
