Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass is one of the adventurous treks that cover the beautiful Lakes of Gokyo, a traditional trek to Everest Base Camp, and a wonderful occasion to experience the beauty of the world’s highest peaks and freshwater lake in the world. During the course of the Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lakes, the Gokyo Lakes is another highlights besides Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar (5545m) – two of the highlights of the Standard Everest Base Camp Trek (12 Days)

 

Gokyo-Ri Everest Base Camp trek via Chola-La Pass is an extended trip of Mount Everest Base Camp trek. Trekking into the Gokyo Valley as a consequence trek that has to be made via Chola – La Pass to reach the Mount Everest Base Camp (EBC). The trail to Gokyo is thrilling enough but going via Chola – La Pass is exciting in the mountainous region. You slowly walk up the valley go towards the green forest. We get to see many different species of Flora and Fauna throughout the forest, where you see deer and plenty of rhododendrons. We cross through fascinating villages such as Khumbu, Khunde, and Khumjung. After we get to Khumjung Valley, we get apart from the busy route towards the silent village of Phortse Tenga and eventually we find ourselves destinations of Chola-La Pass and Everest Base Camp (EBC). Gokyo-Ri Everest Base Camp trek via Chola-La Pass also allows you to see the scenic views of Mt. Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Cho-Yu, etc. The trek offers awesome views of isolated Gokyo and gorgeous turquoise lakes as we hike to the Gokyo Ri.

Similar to the Standard Everest Base Camp Trek, you will require TIMS and National Park Fee that can be prepared prior to or during the trek.

 

How to begin your Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo?

You will begin your trek to Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lakes taking a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Alternatively. You can begin your trek by taking a Jeep ride from Kathmandu to Salleri or Jiri. Learn more about how you get to Lukla from Kathmandu.

 

Accommodation and Meals

Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo lakes is a teahouse trek in which you will seep in a basic room with twin sharing beds and toilets are usually shared and outside of the teahouse. Blankets are provided; however, it is suggested to bring your sleeping bag or liner that will keep you warm. You can hire the sleeping bag in Kathmandu or bring it from home.

Regarding meals during trekking, you will get three sit-down meals as Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Breakfast and Dinner will be provided at the teahouse and lunch en-route.  There are varieties of options like Dal Bhat, Mo: Mo, Fried Noodles, Soups, Fried Rice, Chinese and continental dishes such as Spring roll, Spaghetti, Steaks, etc for your lunch and dinner. You will also find meat on the menu, however, we recommend you stay away from the meat in the high-altitude because all the meat has to be carried by Yak or on foot, so freshness can not be guaranteed.

 

Wi-Fi and Telephone

With the rapid development of information technology, internet with Wi-Fi facility is available in most of the teahouses. However, the speed of the internet could be slow. If you want to speak with your family back home, you can also use the SAT phone which is available in the teahouse. Nowadays, you can buy the SIM Card in Kathmandu and use it during trekking; but you may not bet the proper network at every stop.

 

Join Fixed Departure trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) With Gokyo

  • We organize small group Fixed Departures trekking tours to Mount Everest Base Camp through Gokyo Ri (Lakes) and Chola la pass. This is 15 days group joining trek starting/ending from Lukla/Kathmandu.
  • We organize Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lakes every day during the peak seasons such as Spring (March, April, May) and Autumn (September, October, November).
  • The Summer (June, July, August) and Winter (December, January, and February) likely to have less group because of the low season.

Cost for Indian and Nepalese Citizens

The ‘Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Trek’ trekking cost (accommodation, guide/porter fees, food) remains the same. However, due to flight fare and permit fees (less than the other citizens), it costs cheaper than foreign citizens. The cost will be less by nearly 200 US dollars than the standard quotation mentioned on the package. Arrival in Kathmandu

Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m) -Phakding {2610n} this takes about 30 minutes for the flight & trek for 3-4 hrs

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) Trek for 5 to 6 hours

We rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and do some helpful excursions around the area.

Namche Bazaar to Dole (4, 110m.) – Trek for 5-6 hours

Dole to Machhermo (4410m) trek for 5-6 hours.

Machhermo to Gokyo (4750m) Trek for 4-5 hours.

Gokyo Valley: 2nd Acclimatization Day to chill out (Hike to Gokyo Ri-5357m/17,570)

Trek/climb from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri (5340m) and trek back to Thaknak (4650m) via Gokyo village which takes about 6-7 hours.

Thaknak to Cho-la Pass (5, 367m.) – Lobuche (4,950m.) Trek for 8-9 hours.

Lobuche – Gorak Shep [5170 m/16,961ft] – Everest Base Camp [5364 m/17,594 ft] / Kala Patthar (5545 m/18,192 ft) – Gorak Shep: Trek for 6-7 hrs

Ascend from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and trek to Pheriche (4250m.) Trek for 7-8 hours

Pheriche to Tyangboche (3850m) Trek for 7-8 hours.

Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) Trek for 5-6 hours.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886m) Trek for 5-6 hours.

Take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATION 

Payment: 30% of the total tour cost is required as an advance deposit to confirm the tour with HimalayanWindows (HW). The remaining balance can be paid 3 days before the departure date. Payment can be made through Wire Transfer or Credit Card. We process your credit card payment securely and no extra fee is charged.

Cancellation: For cancellation more than 30 days before the Tour Start Date, No Cancellation fee is charged. For cancellation from 29 calendar days up to and including 4 calendar days before the Tour Start Date, a charge of 30% of the total invoice amount is charged. For a cancellation occurring within 3 days of the date of travel or No Show shall be charged 100% of the total invoice amount. Learn more about Terms and Conditions.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS 

Accommodation: Accommodation is in twin rooms in cities unless a special request is made for a single supplement with an additional fee. Accommodation is in twin or dormitory at lodges on the trek especially in a peak season, it is difficult to find single/twin rooms in the mountains. Our main focus is to provide clean and safe rooms to our valued guests.

Meals: Basically, every package we offer includes breakfast; lunch and dinner are provided based on the cost we offer on the tour. In Bhutan, every package is on a full board plan that includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. During the trek, we provide all meals where you will need to pay extra for drinking water and snacks.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Nepal Visa: Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Nepal needs to obtain a Nepal Visa. Nepal visa can be obtained on arrival and some countries need a visa before traveling to Nepal. Make sure your passport is valid at least 6 months from the Tour Start Date. Make sure to obtain a multi-entries Nepal Visa if you are planning cross country tours.

Bhutan Visa Clearance: Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Bhutan needs to obtain a Bhutan Visa Clearance before the travel to Bhutan. We obtain your Bhutan visa; you need to send your color scanned clear passport copy. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the Tour Start Date. Before flying to Bhutan, a Visa Clearance will be sent to you from your tour operator, you have to print the clearance paper and show it at the Druk Air/Bhutan Airlines counter during the Check-in. The original visa would be stamped into your passport upon arrival at the Paro airport. Learn more about Bhutan travel info.

Tibet Group Visa (TGV): Every traveler from any country who wanted to visit Tibet from Nepal needs to obtain a Tibet Group Visa (TGV) in Kathmandu through the help of a tour operator. Make sure to land in Kathmandu 3-4 working days before the travel date t process for TGV. If you are traveling from China, no TGV is required, a Chinese Visa & Permit are needed, though. BEST TIME TO VISIT 

Nepal & Bhutan: Nepal and Bhutan share the climate from high mountains to the low land sub-tropical plains and jungles. Both countries have similar weather and ideal to visit at the same time of the year. March to April (spring) & October to December (autumn and early winter) are the best time to visit as the air is clean and fresh with sunny skies. January and February are colder and June, July, and August (summer) are monsoon season.

Tibet: The best time to visit Tibet is from April to October as the weather is warmer, fresh, and sunny skies. November to March are usually very cold, but still possible to visit if the route is not blocked by the snow, especially in the regions like Namtso, Everest Base Camp, Mount Kailash, etc.
